Novas Canções da Terra is Catarina Carvalho Gomes’ debut project as a singer-songwriter. The actress/musician presents a work based on themes from traditional songbooks and with an intrinsic connection to the Portuguese language, given her interest in theatrical and poetic texts. She writes about mourning, fascination, loneliness, generational conflict and heritage, relating the emotional cycles of human beings to the natural cycles of flora, always prioritizing the voice as an instrument and exploring the sounds of folk, indie, jazz and fado. She celebrates the earth and its benefits, appreciates life, admires death, with joy and inevitability.
